SNOW PLAY, SLEDDING & TUBINGCold cheeks. Big laughs. One more go.
Some winter memories start with a pair of skis. Others start with a snow tube and someone laughing all the way down. Make a day of playing in Clear Creek, with warm layers, good company, and a local meal to look forward to afterward.
SNOW TUBING AT ECHO MOUNTAIN
All the downhill smiles. A lift back up.
Settle into your tube, enjoy the ride, and take the covered conveyor back up for another turn. Echo Mountain offers a way to spend time on the snow without learning to ski or snowboard.
Reservations include a snow tube, one hour on the tubing hill, and access to the covered conveyor. Riders must be at least 36 inches tall. Book online ahead of time to secure your session, especially for weekends and holidays. Check current operating dates, prices, and participation requirements before heading out.
MAKE ROOM FOR THE LITTLE MOMENTS
Snow angels count as an adventure.
Build a snowman. Make a row of snow angels. Let the youngest person in the group decide what happens next. A good snow day doesn’t need a packed schedule.
Choose public areas where snow play is permitted and follow posted rules. Keep play away from roads, parking lots, creeks, and frozen water. For sledding, use designated areas with a clear runout, away from trees, rocks, and other people.
A LITTLE PREPARATION. MORE TIME TO PLAY.
Pack the spare mittens.
Wear warm layers, waterproof boots, snow pants, and gloves. Bring sun protection, drinking water, and dry clothes for afterward. Take warming breaks and keep an eye on how the smallest members of your group are feeling.
At the tubing hill, follow staff instructions and keep lanes and exit areas clear. Ask the operator about access and participation needs before booking.
Check the weather and road conditions before leaving, prepare your vehicle for winter travel, and allow extra time for the drive.
APRÈS IS FOR EVERYONE
You bring the stories. Let a local kitchen handle the rest.
Start with breakfast in town, then leave room for a warm meal after the snow. Shared pizza, a bowl of soup, or something sweet can turn a quick outing into a whole day together.
Find a table in Idaho Springs, Empire, or Silver Plume. Trade wet mittens for a warm mug and let everyone tell their favorite part. Hot chocolate counts as après, too.
